Description
A nostalgic recipe for creamy and cool peppermint mints that evoke warm holiday memories.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups confectioners’ sugar, sifted
- 2 tablespoons evaporated milk
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract (or more for a stronger mint flavor)
- Food coloring (optional)
Instructions
- Cream the butter in a large mixing bowl until smooth and fluffy.
- Gradually mix in the sifted confectioners’ sugar, evaporated milk, and peppermint extract, blending until a smooth dough forms.
- If desired, divide the dough and knead in food coloring to create colored mints.
- Roll the dough into small balls (about one inch in diameter) and flatten slightly with your fingertips.
- Place the mints on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let dry for at least 24 hours in a cool, dry place.
- Store the mints in an airtight container at room temperature.
Notes
Keep the kitchen cool while preparing the mints to maintain ideal dough consistency. Dust the work surface with confectioners’ sugar to prevent sticking.
