Ingredients

- 1 pound smoked kielbasa or Polish sausage
- 1 medium-sized green cabbage, chopped
- 4 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and diced
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Dried thyme and 1 bay leaf
- 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
- Olive oil or butter for sautéing
Instructions
- Gather all your ingredients and chop the cabbage and potatoes, and slice the kielbasa.
- Heat olive oil or butter in a skillet and sauté the sliced onions until translucent, then add minced garlic for 30 seconds.
- In the slow cooker, layer half of the cabbage and half of the potatoes, add sautéed onion and garlic, then pour in the broth.
- Layer the remaining cabbage, potatoes, and sliced kielbasa on top.
- Sprinkle with salt, pepper, thyme, and bay leaf, and gently stir if needed.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours. Stir before serving and adjust seasoning as needed.
Notes
Pairs well with crusty bread or a side salad. Can be frozen for up to three months.
