- 3 to 4 pounds beef brisket
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- Fresh or dried herbs like thyme or rosemary
Instructions
- Pat the brisket dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper.
- Sear the brisket in a skillet over medium-high heat for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden.
- Sauté sliced onions in the same skillet until softened, about 5-7 minutes, adding minced garlic in the last minute.
- Place the seared brisket in the slow cooker and top with the onion/garlic mixture. Mix beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar, then pour over the brisket.
- Cover and slow cook on low for 8 to 10 hours.
- Once cooked, remove brisket and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing or shredding.
Notes
Reserve some cooking liquid as a sauce to moisten brisket before serving.
