Description

These golden and cheesy mashed potato puffs are the ultimate comfort food, transforming humble leftovers into warm, crispy bites of joy.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups leftover mashed potatoes

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (substitute: mozzarella or gruyère)

1 egg, beaten

1 tablespoon chopped chives or parsley (optional)

1 clove fresh garlic, minced (or 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder)

Salt and pepper to taste

1/4 cup all-purpose flour (or almond flour for gluten-free)

Oil for brushing or spraying (or non-stick cooking spray)

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a mixing bowl, combine mashed potatoes, cheese, egg, garlic, chives, flour, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.

3. With damp hands, roll the mixture into small balls (about walnut size) and place on the prepared tray.

4. Lightly brush or spray the tops with oil for crisping.

5. Bake for 15–20 minutes until golden brown and crispy on the outside.

6. Serve warm with sour cream or your favorite dip.

Notes

Ensure mashed potatoes are completely cooled before mixing to help the puffs hold shape.

You can freeze unbaked puffs and bake straight from frozen, adding 5 extra minutes.

Add a pinch of smoked paprika for a deeper, savory flavor twist.

Serve with a garden salad or tomato-based dip for balance.
