A comforting and flavorful dish combining broccoli, cauliflower, and sausage in a creamy cheese sauce.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 2 cups cauliflower florets
  • 1 lb Italian sausage
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant.
  4. In a steamer basket, steam the broccoli and cauliflower until just tender, about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  5. In a bowl, combine heavy cream, shredded cheese (reserving some for topping), and your choice of herbs.
  6. In a large mixing bowl, fold in the vegetables and sausage, then pour over the cheese sauce. Mix well to combine.
  7. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and sprinkle reserved cheese on top.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until bubbling and golden brown.

Notes

Don’t overcook the vegetables; they should still have some bite. Quality cheese enhances flavor and melting properties.
