- 2 cups fresh broccoli florets
- 2 cups cauliflower florets
- 1 lb Italian sausage
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 onion, chopped
- Fresh thyme or rosemary, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until fragrant.
- In a steamer basket, steam the broccoli and cauliflower until just tender, about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- In a bowl, combine heavy cream, shredded cheese (reserving some for topping), and your choice of herbs.
- In a large mixing bowl, fold in the vegetables and sausage, then pour over the cheese sauce. Mix well to combine.
- Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and sprinkle reserved cheese on top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until bubbling and golden brown.
Notes
Don’t overcook the vegetables; they should still have some bite. Quality cheese enhances flavor and melting properties.
