Description

A delightful blend of sweet and spicy flavors, Hot Honey Chicken features crispy, juicy chicken glazed with a luscious hot honey sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Chicken thighs or breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 12 teaspoons chili flakes
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 inch fresh ginger, minced
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Pepper (to taste)
  • Oil (for frying; canola or peanut)

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Chicken: In a bowl, combine salt, pepper, minced garlic, and ginger. Rub the mixture all over the chicken and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Breading: Set up three bowls; one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with a mix of flour, chili flakes, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Coat the Chicken: Dredge each piece of chicken in the plain flour, dip it into the egg, then coat it with the flour and chili mixture.
  4. Fry the Chicken: Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken pieces for about 6-7 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Make the Hot Honey Sauce: In a small saucepan, combine honey, chili flakes, and a splash of vinegar. Simmer while stirring until it thickens slightly.
  6. Glaze the Chicken: Remove fried chicken from the skillet and drizzle hot honey sauce generously over it.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Serve the Hot Honey Chicken hot, garnished with fresh herbs, alongside rice or a salad.

Notes

For a healthier option, consider using whole wheat flour. For a vegan alternative, replace chicken with cauliflower or tofu and use agave syrup mixed with cayenne pepper.
