- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup orzo
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Olive oil, for sautéing
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat and sauté chopped onions and minced garlic until soft.
- Add ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes and bring to a gentle simmer; let bubble for about 10 minutes.
- Add orzo to the skillet, along with additional liquid if desired. Simmer for 10-12 minutes until orzo is tender.
- Lower heat and fold in heavy cream, stirring continuously until combined and heated through.
- Remove from heat, mix in cheese and herbs, then adjust seasoning. Serve immediately.
Notes
For added flavor, sprinkle in red pepper flakes or a splash of balsamic vinegar. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days, or freeze for up to three months.
