Description
A comforting dish of sautéed mushrooms tossed in garlic, butter, and Parmesan cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- Fresh mushrooms (cremini, button, or shiitake)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (or olive oil)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh herbs (parsley, oregano, or thyme)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: a splash of white wine for deglazing
Instructions
- Clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth, avoiding soaking them in water.
- Slice the mushrooms into 1/4-inch thick slices for even cooking.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Once frothy, add the minced garlic and stir for about 30 seconds.
- Add the sliced mushrooms, season with salt and pepper, and sauté without stirring for 3-5 minutes.
- Stir the mushrooms and continue cooking for another 3 minutes to retain juices.
- Add a splash of white wine (if using) and let it reduce for a couple of minutes.
- Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the mushrooms, toss gently to coat.
- Remove from heat and stir in the chopped herbs before serving.
Notes
For best results, do not overcrowd the skillet to allow for proper searing.
