  • Author: Alessia Romano
  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A comforting dish of sautéed mushrooms tossed in garlic, butter, and Parmesan cheese.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Fresh mushrooms (cremini, button, or shiitake)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (or olive oil)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh herbs (parsley, oregano, or thyme)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: a splash of white wine for deglazing

Instructions

  1. Clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth, avoiding soaking them in water.
  2. Slice the mushrooms into 1/4-inch thick slices for even cooking.
  3. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Once frothy, add the minced garlic and stir for about 30 seconds.
  4. Add the sliced mushrooms, season with salt and pepper, and sauté without stirring for 3-5 minutes.
  5. Stir the mushrooms and continue cooking for another 3 minutes to retain juices.
  6. Add a splash of white wine (if using) and let it reduce for a couple of minutes.
  7. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the mushrooms, toss gently to coat.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped herbs before serving.

Notes

For best results, do not overcrowd the skillet to allow for proper searing.
