Garlic Herb Butter Roast Turkey is the ultimate holiday centerpiece. Infused with rich butter, garlic, and fresh herbs, this recipe guarantees golden skin and juicy meat every time.
Ingredients
1 whole turkey (12 to 14 pounds)
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
6 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped
2 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped
2 tbsp fresh sage, chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
1 lemon, sliced
1 onion, quartered
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
2. Remove giblets and pat turkey dry.
3. In a bowl, mix butter, garlic, herbs, salt, and pepper.
4. Carefully loosen the skin and spread herb butter under and over the turkey skin.
5. Season the cavity and stuff with lemon slices and onion.
6. Tie the legs together and place in roasting pan.
7. Roast for 3 to 3.5 hours, basting occasionally, until internal temp is 165°F.
8. Let rest for 20 minutes before carving.
Notes
Use poultry seasoning if you don’t have fresh herbs.
Add a splash of white wine to the pan for more flavor.
Always let the turkey rest before slicing.
