Description

Deliciously fluffy Garlic Butter Focaccia, perfect for sharing and enjoying warm with family and friends.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp flaky sea salt
  • Fresh herbs (rosemary or thyme) for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5 to 10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together flour and sea salt.
  3. Gradually add the flour mix to the yeast mixture, stirring until a dough forms. Transfer to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes or until smooth.
  4. Place your dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Punch down the dough and transfer it to a greased baking sheet or a cast-iron skillet. Stretch it to fit the pan, creating dimples with your fingers.
  6. Melt butter in a small saucepan, then add minced garlic and herbs. Brush this mixture generously over your dough, ensuring it seeps into the dimples.
  7. Let the dough rise again for about 20 to 30 minutes.
  8. Sprinkle more sea salt on top, then bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Allow the focaccia to cool for a few minutes, cut it into pieces, and serve warm with additional garlic butter if desired.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free flour blend. Vegan butter can be used for a plant-based version.
