Ingredients
Scale
- 4–5 medium-sized apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisps, or your favorite)
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar (adjust for sweetness preference)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- Wash and peel the apples, remove the core, and slice into thin wedges. Toss slices with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter until it begins to foam.
- Add apple slices to the skillet, stirring gently to coat them with butter.
- Sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using) over the apples and stir to coat evenly.
- Cook apples for 8-10 minutes until tender yet holding their shape, adjusting heat as necessary.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or spice to desire, adding a pinch of salt to enhance flavor.
- Serve warm as a side or topping.
Notes
For a dairy-free option, substitute coconut oil for butter. For added sweetness, use maple syrup instead of brown sugar.
