Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 2 medium ripe pears, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 1 to 1.5 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- Fresh herbs (rosemary or thyme), finely chopped
- 1 beaten egg mixed with a splash of water (for egg wash)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and transfer it to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Lightly score a 1-inch border around the edges of the pastry.
- Toss the sliced pears with salt, pepper, and herbs in a small bowl.
- Sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese within the scored border, layer the pear slices on top, and finish with the remaining cheese.
- Brush the edges of the pastry with the egg wash.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden and puffed, and the cheese is bubbling.
- Let cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
Choose firm, ripe pears for best results. Avoid overloading the tart to prevent sogginess.
