Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Ground Beef (80% lean or higher)
- 1 cup Breadcrumbs (or rolled oats)
- 1 Egg (to bind)
- 1/2 cup Chopped Onion (yellow or white)
- 2 cloves Minced Garlic (fresh or powdered)
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce (for depth)
- 1/2 cup Milk (for moisture)
- 1/4 cup Ketchup (for glaze)
- 2 tbsp Brown Sugar (for glaze)
- Salt and Pepper (to taste)
- 2 tbsp Parsley (for freshness)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the meatloaf.
- Prepare the Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, milk, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined—don’t overmix.
- Shape the Loaf: Transfer the mixture into a lightly greased loaf pan, shaping it snugly.
- Make the Glaze: In a small bowl, combine ketchup and brown sugar. Spread half over the meatloaf and reserve the rest.
- Bake: Place the meatloaf in the oven and bake for about 1 hour, until it reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
- Final Glaze: Brush the reserved ketchup mixture over the top in the last 10 minutes of baking.
- Rest Before Slicing: Let it rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
For added moisture, consider including diced bell peppers or shredded zucchini in the mixture. Serve with mashed potatoes and green beans.
