Description

A delightful stir-fry of tender beef and colorful bell peppers, this Easy Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions is a comforting family favorite that brings flavor and warmth to the dinner table.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb Beef Flank Steak
  • 2 Bell Peppers (red, yellow, and green)
  • 1 Onion (sweet or yellow)
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1 inch Ginger (fresh, minced)
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 1 tsp Pepper Flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice the flank steak against the grain into thin strips.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, minced garlic, and minced ginger. Add the beef and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Heat a large skillet or wok over high heat and add sesame oil.
  4. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add more oil if necessary and sauté the onions and bell peppers for 3-5 minutes until they start to soften.
  6. Return the beef to the skillet, mix in the remaining marinade and cornstarch mixed with water, and stir until sauce thickens, about 2 minutes.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

Adjust the pepper flakes for a desired level of heat. Serve over white rice for a complete meal.
