Ingredients
- Brussels Sprouts: Fresh, vibrant, and firm
- Maple Syrup: ¼ cup for delightful sweetness
- Balsamic Vinegar: ¼ cup for tanginess
- Olive Oil: 2 tablespoons extra virgin
- Garlic: 2 minced cloves
- Nuts: ½ cup toasted walnuts or pecans
- Herbs: Fresh parsley or thyme
Instructions
- Trim the ends and slice the Brussels sprouts in half. Rinse them under cold water.
- In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add the Brussels sprouts, cut side down, season with salt and pepper. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until tender and golden brown.
- In a small bowl, whisk together ¼ cup of balsamic vinegar, ¼ cup of maple syrup, and 2 minced garlic cloves. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Once the Brussels sprouts are cooked, remove them from the heat and allow to cool slightly. Combine them in a large bowl with the vinaigrette, mixing well.
- Toss in ½ cup of toasted nuts and a handful of fresh herbs.
- Allow the salad to rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Always taste as you go for optimal flavor balance. For quicker preparation, you can roast the Brussels sprouts in the oven at 400°F for 20 minutes.
