Description
A heartwarming family favorite featuring tender orzo, savory ground beef, and sautéed mushrooms.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup Orzo
- 1 pound Ground Beef
- 1 cup Mushrooms, sliced
- 1 Onion, diced
- 2 cloves Garlic, minced
- 4 cups Beef or Vegetable Broth
- ½ cup Grated Parmesan
- ¼ cup Fresh Basil or Parsley, chopped
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- Salt and Pepper, to taste
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until translucent. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until browned and no longer pink, breaking it apart with a spatula.
- Stir in the sliced mushrooms and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Pour in the broth and bring to a gentle simmer. Add the orzo and stir well.
- Let it simmer for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo is al dente and has absorbed some of the broth.
- Remove the skillet from heat. Stir in the grated Parmesan and chopped herbs, allowing them to melt into the dish. Adjust seasonings as necessary.
- Dish out the Delicious Ground Beef Orzo into bowls, sprinkling extra cheese and herbs on top if desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
For extra creaminess, consider adding a splash of heavy cream or a dollop of cream cheese towards the end.
