- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 2 eggs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Zest and juice of 2 fresh oranges
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
- 3 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- Vegetable oil for frying
- Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Cut chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces and season with salt and pepper.
- In a bowl, mix cornstarch with eggs until smooth.
- Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Dip chicken pieces into the batter and fry in batches for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
- In a saucepan, combine orange juice, zest, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, honey, and sesame oil. Simmer for 3-4 minutes.
- Toss crispy chicken in the orange sauce and serve hot over rice, garnished with green onions and sesame seeds.
Notes
For a gluten-free version, use tamari instead of soy sauce. For a vegan option, substitute honey with maple syrup.
