Description

Delicious crispy puffs filled with buttery mashed potatoes and gooey cheese, perfect for sharing.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (preferably starchy, like russets)
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)
  • Panko or seasoned breadcrumbs for coating
  • Fresh chives or parsley (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil peeled, cubed potatoes in salted water until soft. Drain and mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper to taste.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes, shredded cheese, minced garlic, egg, and any optional add-ins. Mix until well-blended.
  3. With your hands, scoop out small portions of the mixture and form them into balls or patties.
  4. Roll each puff in breadcrumbs until fully coated.
  5. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and fry the puffs until golden brown, roughly 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Remove from the skillet and let drain on paper towels. Serve warm.

Notes

Can be baked for a healthier option at 400°F for 20-25 minutes until golden. Avoid overcrowding the frying pan for best results.
