Description

A flavorful pasta dish with lean ground beef and a rich, creamy sauce, perfect for family dinners.


Ingredients

  • Fettuccine or penne pasta
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 8 oz baby bella or cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium sweet onion, chopped
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh parsley or thyme, for garnish
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta in a large pot of salted water until al dente, reserving 1 cup of pasta water before draining.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions and sauté until translucent, about 3–4 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  3. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 6–8 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Toss in the mushrooms and cook until tender, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  5. Lower the heat, pour in the heavy cream, and let it simmer, adjusting the thickness with reserved pasta water as needed.
  6. Add the drained pasta, mixing well to coat in the sauce. Stir in the Parmesan cheese and fresh herbs until melted and combined.
  7. Plate the dish and garnish with additional herbs and Parmesan before serving.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute lean ground beef with ground turkey or a meat alternative. You can also add spinach or kale for extra nutrition.
