Description

A nostalgic dish of dried beef in a creamy sauce, perfect for toast or as a hearty meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz dried beef, chopped
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Garlic powder, to taste
  • Crispy toast or warm biscuits, for serving

Instructions

  1. Chop the dried beef into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk continuously until it forms a smooth paste, about 2 minutes.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring until the mixture thickens and bubbles, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  4. Add the chopped beef to the skillet, stirring to coat evenly with the creamy sauce.
  5. For a thinner sauce, add more milk as needed.
  6. Spoon the Creamed Chipped Beef over crispy toast or warm biscuits and serve hot.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding a dash of Worcestershire sauce or sautéed mushrooms.
