Description
A tangy and sweet cranberry orange sauce, perfect for holiday gatherings, complementing various savory and sweet dishes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 ounces fresh cranberries
- 2 medium-sized fresh oranges (zested and juiced)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- Optional spices (cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg)
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients: Rinse the cranberries and set aside. Zest and juice the oranges, collecting any seeds.
- Combine and Cook: In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, orange juice, zest, sugar, and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Simmer: Reduce heat and let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes until cranberries burst.
- Adjust the Flavor: Taste and adjust sweetness or add spices, then add a pinch of salt.
- Cool and Serve: Remove from heat, cool, and serve. The sauce will thicken as it cools.
Notes
Avoid overcooking the cranberries for the best texture. Blend for a smoother sauce if desired.
