Description
Delicious cheesy thumbprint appetizers topped with sweet and spicy hot pepper jelly, perfect for gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ½ cup cream cheese, softened
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or cream cheese)
- ¼ cup hot pepper jelly (adjust to taste)
- Fresh herbs such as thyme or chives, finely chopped (optional)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, blend the softened butter and cream cheese until creamy. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until you form a smooth dough. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes if the mixture feels too sticky.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll the dough into small balls—about one inch in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Use your thumb or a small spoon to press down in the center of each ball to create a well.
- Spoon a small amount of shredded cheese into each thumbprint, ensuring not to overfill. Add a dollop of hot pepper jelly on top of the cheese, and sprinkle in herbs if using.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until edges are golden brown and cheese is melted.
- Let the appetizers cool slightly before serving warm for the best experience.
Notes
Use a silicone baking mat for even browning. Experiment with different cheese varieties for unique flavors.
