Description
Indulge in the creamy, buttery goodness of the BEST Mashed Potatoes, perfect for family gatherings and celebrations.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs Russet potatoes (or Yukon Gold)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (or plant-based substitute)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (or whole milk/dairy-free alternative)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced (or dried garlic as substitute)
- 2 sprigs fresh rosemary (or dried)
- 2 sprigs fresh thyme (or dried)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Peel and cube the potatoes. In a large pot, cover with cold water, add salt, and bring to a simmer. Cook until fork-tender (about 15-20 minutes).
- In a small saucepan, sauté minced garlic with butter over low heat. Add rosemary and thyme, letting them infuse their oils into the butter. Remove from heat and strain if desired.
- Drain the cooked potatoes and return them to the pot. Allow to sit over low heat for a minute to remove excess moisture.
- Mash the potatoes with a hand masher or electric mixer, gradually incorporating the herbed butter and warmed cream until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
- Gently fold in grated Parmesan cheese and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve warm with an extra drizzle of herb-infused butter.
Notes
For a luxurious twist, serve with sautéed mushrooms and a drizzle of truffle oil.
