- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 cups pasta (penne or rotini)
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 28 ounces tomato sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 2 cups shredded cheese (mozzarella or a blend)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: diced vegetables (bell peppers or mushrooms)
- Olive oil (for sautéing)
Instructions
- Boil water in a large pot with a pinch of salt. Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the diced onion and minced garlic until fragrant. Add ground beef and brown until fully cooked.
- Pour in tomato sauce and beef broth. Stir in herbs, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for about 15 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine cooked pasta and beef sauce, stirring to coat the pasta.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 25–30 minutes or until cheese is golden.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Feel free to substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option. Use whole wheat pasta for added nutrition.
