Ingredients

  • 1 lb elbow macaroni
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup cream
  • 3 cups cheese blend (Sharp Cheddar, Gruyère, and Parmesan)
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Breadcrumbs for topping

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta in salted boiling water until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour, whisking for about 2 minutes.
  3. Gradually add milk and cream, whisking until the mixture thickens.
  4. Stir in cheese blend, mustard, nutmeg, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  5. Combine cooked pasta with cheese sauce in a baking dish.
  6. Optional: Top with breadcrumbs for a crispy finish.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes or until golden.
